Fox News Anchors Hacked To Send DM’s To Trump

As was first reported by Lawrence Abrams of BleepingComputer.com yesterday, January 22nd 2017, the Turkish Cyber Army has hacked the Twitter account of Sheriff David A. Clark Jr – an outspoken African American political conservative whom made the National spotlight after speaking out against and in condemnation of the Black Lives Matter protest movement while lobbying for Donald Trump during the 2016 election season.

After gaining access, hackers posted the following message on his account: “Your account has been hacked by Turkish Cyber Army AYYLIDIZ TIM! Your DM correspondence has been captured and interesting information has been reached! Turks are everywhere!” The group then posted an emoji of Turkeys National flag and left behind a video explaining more about themselves and their cause. Upon researching the group further, they appear to be a group of Turkish separatists opposed to the Government of President Erdogan. More recently, AYYLIDIZ TIM has spoken out against Turkeys military invasion of Syria and is now asking for the US Government to step up and do more to stop them.

However, upon reading his report, I think Lawrence Abrams missed the lead entirely. For example, in the very last sentence of his article, Abrams alludes to the fact that the Turkish Cyber Army is also known to have hacked several “current and prior Fox News reporters such as Sara Carter, James Rosen, Greta Van Susteren, and Eric Bolling” in the past – allegedly among many others. Moreover, Abrams claims it’s already a matter of public record that hackers then used the accounts they compromised to send direct messages to President Trump – whom is friends with these people in real life and thus connected to them through Twitter‘s service.

Is Twitter A Threat To US National Security?

Just so you understand what’s happening here, malicious foreign agents have established a direct line of communication to the President of the United States. That’s amazing to actually think about because the President of the United States should otherwise be the hardest person in the world to talk to/with directly. In a sense, foreign agents have been able to bypass every safe guard, protocol and process the Secret Service or US Federal Government has in place to access the President directly – all because Donald Trump refuses to close his Twitter account. That’s why this news is truly concerning to me and why for the first time in history, I’m questioning if Trumps Twitter account itself is a threat to Americas National Security. Outside of these Turkish hackers, who knows how many time something like this has actually happened in the past, what was said or what hackers have learned – not just with Donald Trump but anyone working for our Government right now.

Interestingly enough, at the present moment in time President Trump is only following 45 people on Twitter and of those 45, 6 are either Fox News personalities or accounts representing Fox News programs. Additionally, 3 others are recent or former Fox News employees and contributors – such as Bill O’Reilly and Greta van Susteren. This means that literally 20% of the information Trump personally consumes on Twitter every day comes specifically from Fox News alone.
