To be honest, ever since I first learned about the Wikileaks CIA dump I have been too infuriated to write an intellectual article about it. This is because privacy hawks such as myself have been shouting at the top of their lungs about this sort of activity for years now, but have largely been ignored.
I am angry because I have been called crazy or a conspiracy theorist in regards to all of this over the years and even though the Wikileaks release comes as its own form of vindication, considering how many people are still shocked by the information, it shines a very bright light on just how clueless the American public really is.

For example, earlier today I turned on Fox News and proceeded to watch a round table discussion of “experts” trying to convince the American public that Julian Assange and Wikileaks are “puppets of the Russians” and therefore all the documents should be dismissed.
The pundits were attempting to argue that the leak of spying tools and documents was meant to undermine the public’s trust in the Government under a Trump administration and should therefore be thought of as an ‘attack upon America.’ In their opinions, rather than be upset about all the information exposed by the leak, Americans should instead rally in support of their Government in this time of crisis.
The fact of the matter is that Fox’s “reporting” on this matter is nothing more than American political propaganda. Whether Fox wants to admit it or not, the fact of the matter is that these leaks were perpetuated from inside the United States Government – even the former Director of the CIA admits as much.
Moreover, the leakers of this information should be lauded for their bravery and Patriotism, they have done nothing more than educate the American public about the illegal and unconstitutional acts being perpetuated by their Government.
All of that aside for a moment, it never ceases to amaze me how many people simply do not care about this type of information. Despite finding out that nearly every person, product, company and device in this country has been intentionally designed to be hacked/exploited by the United States Government at any moment in time, almost no on seems to be offended about this. I have even heard some people say that it’s good the US Government is doing all of this because it shows just how far our Government is willing to go to look out for the American public and keep the country safe.
I honestly don’t get these people. So, if you are one of the many people in society completely indifferent to this information, here are three reasons why you should care much more about all of the leaks coming out of the Federal Government right now.
1.) They Expose Illegal Activity Against American Citizens
Every year the Federal Government spends tens of millions, hundreds of millions of dollars collectively to fight back against hackers and cyber adversaries. Ironically though, the United States Government employs some of the worlds most dangerous black hat hackers and then pays them billions more to commit criminal acts.
The fact of the matter is that if I attempted to do anything that the FBI, CIA or NSA currently employs people to do on a daily basis, I would be arrested and charged with a felony. Just so you understand what’s going on here, American tax payers are funding the Government to commit illegal acts against its own citizens. Moreover, our Government and certain agencies within it are given the freedom to operates without over-site or accountability and willfully admit to acting outside US law.
In the name of secrecy and National Security, our Government is given complete immunity to commit acts that would otherwise be considered felonies if anyone else carried them out.
2.) The US Government Is Violating The Constitution
It has been said that with the passing of the Patriot Act in 2001, the 4th Amendment fell along with the Twin Towers.
The 4th Amendment specifically reads: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
With that in mind, I want to point out how the CIA, NSA and FBI have all been exposed for illegally hacking and/or spying upon law abiding US citizens for decades now. In 2015 the NSA had to be shut down by Congress for collecting phone records on 300 of 330 million Americans without a single warrant. Throughout 2016, several different Federal judges ruled that the FBI acts unconstitutionally for deploying Stingrays in an attempt to intercept and record the cell phone communications of US citizens – a practice the agency is still fighting in court to continue. Now in 2017, the CIA admits to developing specialized hacking tools to secretly hack every account/service/device in America, while also hacking into the private data records of some of the countries largest corporations.
Believe me, if I wasn’t trying to make this article short, that list really could go on for quite some time. Please note that not a single one of the actions mentioned above was carried out in conjunction with a legally obtained warrant and nearly every branch of the Government admits to seizing the personal data of American through various means – a clear violation of the 4th Amendment, even if the founding fathers had no conception of what modern technology would become.
3.) The US Government Itself Has Been Hacked
It would be one thing if the NSA or CIA perpetuated all of these acts, developed all of these tools and then secure them for no one else to find/use, but they failed to do so. In the summer of 2016 the NSA was hacked by Russian assailants and some of the most advanced hacking tools the world had ever seen were dumped online across the Deep Web. Now, in March 2017, the CIA has been hacked and all of the CIA’s most advanced hacking tools have also been released online.
Remember what I brought up in the beginning of this article, how the Untied States Government employs some of the most dangerous “black-hat hackers” in the entire world? This is exactly what I am talking about here.
Not only has our Government been allowed to act without over-site and develop powerfully illegal tools with the capability of hacking anyone or anything in the world, but now all of these same tools are out in the open for anyone to use. The United States Government no longer has exclusive access to all of these tools and theoretically speaking, every hacker the world over now has access to them.
We the people have failed to hold our Government accountable or keep them in check. Now, as a result of our complacency, we have allowed our Government to “inadvertently” make this world and everyone it less safe. Not only that, but the actions of our Government have now strengthened our nations biggest cyber threats.
Just let the realization of that soak in for a moment…..
